Publication and Handbook Design

SRCA has extensive experience in creating well designed handbooks and publications. This creative process ranges from conceptual design including discussions and drafts with the client, to digital production of press- and web-ready PDF documents of the final publication. With a design staff working from training and backgrounds in illustration, graphic design, Publications and Handbooks, and pre-press production, you may rest assured knowing that our staff is able to confidently address all your design needs from start to finish.

Using software from the Adobe Creative Suite such as Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, SRCA is able to handle all stages of pre-press production. Currently, SRCA supports worldwide civil and military aviation programs in the development and design of handbooks, publications, and multimedia presentations.

Aviation Handbooks

SRCA has been tasked to redesign several aviation related handbooks. As technology evolves so quickly, SRCA subject matter experts review, edit, and often rewrite the existing handbook content. During this process, the graphic design department of SRCA works hand in hand with the subject matter experts to create and/or edit photography, draw vector-based illustrations depicting complex mechanical details, and to format submitted text. All of these elements are combined into one cohesive chapter and book format using Adobe InDesign.

Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation

Based on previous contracts with Sikorsky and the Goodrich Corporation, SRCA was tasked to organize, compile, and redesign their Integrated Vehicle Health Management System (IVHMS) user manual. Using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, the SRCA design staff pulled technical documents from many different sources and created a newly designed book. Graphics were cleaned and redrawn when needed, text was presented in a more commercial format, and layouts were arranged to offer a more visually appealing design apart from most technical manuals in the government and military support industry.

Technical Manuals

Another training path is that of technical manuals. Safety Research Corporation of America (SRCA) has been tasked to develop highly technical manuals on topics such as aircraft sensor and diagnostics, and general flight instruction manuals for pilots the world over. When creating these manuals, SRCA will gather a surplus of research material and images, and with guidance from the client, begin to outline the book.

SRCA will go through several drafts of each chapter before a final is submitted to make sure that content is accurate and engaging to read. Images can be provided by the client or they can be created in-house by our graphics staff. Regardless, if the task is to simply clean up and update current manuals or to start a new, SRCA has and will continue to provide visually stunning student manuals.
