Robert J. Rendzio


Mr. Robert Rendzio, President of Safety Research Corporation of America (SRCA) is both a current pilot and aircraft owner with over 35 years in aviation and over 25 years as an aircraft accident investigator. He is held in high regard and teaches rotorcraft accident investigation at both the NTSB and University of Southern California. He is currently the President of the International Society of Air Safety Investigators (ISASI) Southeastern Chapter. His specialty is in aircraft accident reconstruction but also provides pilot expertise in Part 91 operations. He has investigated over 150 major accidents of both airplanes and helicopters.


Mr. Rendzio is considered an authority on wire strikes having written about the subject and analyzed several accidents involving wires. Further, he has developed educational material and taught on subjects as varied as the 406 MHz ELT, Halogenated extinguishment agents, Aeronautical Decision Making (ADM) and taught Crew Resource Management (CRM). 


Education


Mr. Rendzio received a Master of Science, Systems Management, from the University of Denver in 1991, a Bachelor of Arts in Aeronautical Studies/Safety, from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 1980, attended Ergonomic Workshops in 1993, developed a Maritime Safety Course in 1992, graduated the Aircraft Accident Investigators Course; Basic and Advanced in 1986, the Arson Investigators Course (FEMA) in 1985, and the Ground Accident Investigators Course in 1984.

  • Voted President of the ISASI Southeast Chapter in 2008
  • Designated an industry representative for an FAA Aviation Rulemaking Advisory Committee (ARAC)
  • Interfaced with both the National Transportation and Safety Board (explosion) and the Federal Aviation Administration (Casa 212)
  • Contracted to write the manual for the Data Acquisition Unit for the UH-60 Blackhawk fleet

Mr. Rendzio’s ratings include Airplanes: ATP, Multi-Engine, Single Engine, with Commercial Privileges, 4,000 hours, 2d Class Medical rated in Helicopters (Commercial, Instrument, 1,900 hours) with extensive experience in King Airs (B-90 through B-200 to include military equivalent), PA-11 • PA-28, Beechcraft 35, F-33, Beechcraft 95 (Travel Air), C-150, C-172, C-210 and military helicopters to include the AH-1 (Cobra Q, S,F), OH-58 (Bell Jet Ranger) and UH-1(Huey).
